No matter what the season, there is always something going on in the City of Georgetown.  Keeping our residents informed of scheduled events and local happenings is important.

Upcoming Events

Eastern IL Food Bank

Begins: 3/25/2025 - 2:45 pm
Ends: 3/25/2025 - 3:30 pm

The Eastern Illinois Food Bank will be set up in the parking lot of the First Church of Christ from 2:45 - 3:30 pm on March 25.  Please visit eifoodbank.org for qualifications.

Water Bill Due Date

Begins: 4/7/2025 - 8:00 am
Ends: 4/7/2025 - 4:30 pm

Water bills are due April 7, 2025.  If you pay after April 7th there will be a 10% penalty added.  Pay on our website or drop in the drop box 24/7.  The drive up window and lobby are open Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.  

City Council Meeting

Begins: 4/7/2025 - 7:00 pm
Ends: 4/7/2025

There wil lbe a City Council Meeting at 7 pm on Monday, April 7 at the Georgetown City Hall.  The public is welcome to attend.  The agenda will be posted under the government tab and Meeting Agenda, FY 2024-25.

City Clean up Day!

Begins: 4/12/2025 - 9:00 am
Ends: 4/12/2025 - 2:00 pm

There will be dumspters at the Georgetown Fairgrounds for City of Georgetown residents to utilize for removing waste.  It is limited to 1 drop off per household for $10.  Proof of residency will be required at drop off.  Not permitted:  Appliances, Electronics, Yard waste, and Liquids (no paint).

Water Shut off

Begins: 4/14/2025 - 8:00 am
Ends: 4/14/2025 - 4:30 pm

Water Shut off day is April 14.  You must pay your bill by 4:30 on Friday, April 11 to avoid the $40 Non Payment Fee.  If you are paying after 4:30 on April 11, you MUST include the $40 NPF or your water will be shut off.  

Good Friday

Begins: 4/18/2025 - 8:00 AM
Ends: 4/18/2025 - 5:00 PM

The City Hall, Streets & Alley, and Water & Sewer Department will be closed on Friday April 18 in observance of Good Friday.  Happy Easter!

City Council Meeting

Begins: 4/21/2025 - 7:00 pm
Ends: 4/21/2025 - 8:00 pm

There will be a city Council Meeting at 7 pm on Monday, April 21 at the City Hall.  The public is welcome.  The agenda can be found on the government tab under meeting agendas & minutes.

Vietnam Veteran's Parade

Begins: 4/26/2025 - 2:00 pm
Ends: 4/26/2025

Mark your calendars! April 26th we are planning an important event.
With this year being the 50th anniversary of the end of the war in Vietnam, we are happy to announce that our veterans will be receiving the welcome home that they deserved, but never received.
We are starting with a parade that will go from the Fairgrounds to the High School. Where we will then have a presentation. There will be multiple government officials to help us with this event.

• Georgetown Ladie's Community Club
• Russell Lodge #154 Masons
• Fall in Fridays
• Veterans Assistance Commission of Vermilion County

These groups are all working together to make this an event worth remembering. We would love to see you all come out and celebrate these men and women that sacrificed so much and got back so little.
In the weeks leading up to this event, we will be hosting a few raffles to raise money towards this event. Please stay tuned for details on these raffles and your chance to win big, while helping us all make a difference.
